Dog Jumping

Dogs are capable of amazing feats. In some instances, some dogs have been able to do things that humans are able to do despite of physical differences. Whereas in other instances, due to their physical make up, dogs are able to do things better than human beings. In this article, I will point out some feats that dogs have been able to accomplish.

  1. Many dogs have been known to follow the scent of their owner for thousands of miles to find their way home after being lost or on being left by their owner for one reason or another. According to research dogs are able to accomplish such feats due to their ability to smell scents fifty times more than human beings. According to research, they are able to smell scents that are forty feet underground. That is the reason why dogs are used to guard against drug trafficking and to solve crimes.

  1. Dog hearing is up to three to four times better than that of human beings. This is due to the fact that dogs’ ears are on the top of the head and are upright. Dogs have the ability to wiggle their ear muscles in such a way as to focus better on incoming sounds.

  1. Dogs are known to do things that human beings can do. For example, Otto, a three-year-old English bulldog skateboards for a long distance, even gaining momentum using his hind legs. He holds the Guinness World Record for gliding on a skateboard through a thirty people tunnel.

  1. Dogs have been trained to do many unusual things that are strange for animals. Just watch TV shows and you will be amazed at what dogs can do. Dogs can catch balls as a goalkeeper in soccer does, dogs have been known to play musical instruments like a piano, guitar and violin.

  1. Dogs have been known to save the lives of people in cases where there has been an accident, a fire, someone drowning and so on. I watched an episode of I Survived where a woman fell several feet while hiking with her dog and was unable to walk due to a broken pelvis. Her dog took care of her and even went looking for help which led to her rescue.

  1. Dogs are very loyal. They will stick by their owners through thick and thin. There are dogs that have been known to continue to go to their homes even after their owners have moved out, but for some reason left the dog. Dogs are loyal to a fault. Sadly, even mistreated dogs will stay with their owners in very bad conditions.

  1. Dogs are good protectors; dogs are used for security to guard their owner’s property to prevent burglaries.

  1. The average dog can run twenty miles per hour for short distances. The fastest dog the greyhound has a speed of 45 miles per hour. The fastest a human being, Usain Bolt has run is approximately 29 miles per hour, his average speed is twenty three miles per hour.

  1. Dogs have the amazing ability to hold urine for a maximum of eight hours. A potty trained dog will hold urine for hours until their owner comes home and takes them out.
